Never was really into the sport, but it seems as if the offseason gets longer and longer each year.. That and the fact I may go pick up The Show 14 just because it's that damn good.

What is/are a good baseball team(s) to follow for someone new to the sport and why? Never did really watch it,or follow it for that matter.

Please excuse my past distaste for the game of baseball.

The Rays because their a young good team to follow and they have one of the best managers in the game and one of the most innovative managers.

Whichever one is in your market unless you have MLBtv. Not much fun to follow something you can't watch.

Also proximaty should allow you to maek a trip to see them play live...which is much more fun.

Right now I would say the Pirates or Nats . Both have a young star position player and OF and they aren't some choice that will make people hate you like the Dodgers or Red Sox

Rays would be an excellent choice as well

Does Dish have that?
I haven't watched a baseball game in maybe 2 years. Barely at that; just couldn't get a grip for it.

Obviously the Braves. Budding superstar in Freddie Freeman, best closer in the game in Kimbrel.
Always manage to have a good pitching staff, and 3rd youngest roster in the MLB

MLB.TV is the web watching service. You can download it if you have a smart TV or watch on a laptop or tablet. It's like $19 a month for the basic service I think

I don't know. I don't think so though (a tv service that is like extra innings). I have dish but do my teams out of market games through the MLBtv app on the smart tv or through the computer.

So you mean it wouldn't make me seem like a band wagoner for starting with Rays as my team of interest?

I know a few players by name,(big name of course, make sportscenter all the time) and it kind of gives a guilt having to watch those great catches on ESPN instead of seeing them in real time.

You could watch a team rebuild from the ground up in the Astros Don't worry about not knowing their names because 99.9% of Houston doesn't either!

So I get the feeling that young teams are the way to go? Do teams with more older players simply not perform as well as older players in the NFL do?

I know.. shitty comparison, but being that my knowledge of baseball teams in minimal, it's all I have to ride with

Well with young teams it typically means the players are locked up for longer, so you're seeing the same faces year in and year out.

Older players are fine. Every championship team is goign to have plenty of seasoned vetrans.

it really just depends on the talent level, not age.

I think people are recommending young teams so you can see up and coming stars of the game and get a feel for the MLB going forward the next 5-10 years.

this too. you'll see the same guys for a longer period of time than just a few older FA signings.

Go with the cards. Best fans in baseball...and you could be a part of it.

Not necessarily but younger teams are much more fun to watch IMO. Much more energy. The teams stacked with vets are typically the ones who spend tons of money

And if you choose one of those teams (Dodgers Yankees Red Sox Angels etc) you will receive plenty of ridicule

Rays
Pirates
Reds
Mariners
KC
Nationals
Marlins

Marlins have 2 superstars in Fernandez and Stanton who are young and under team control. Both also have potential to be MVP/CY Young winners

I'd say the nats would be a bandwagon though.
