Do you get into long winded discussions while trying to control a resisting subject and your adrenaline is pumping? Wouldn't it be better to secure the subject and talk to him after everything has calmed down?

Well, there is no legal requirement to inform someone of what they are being charged with before making the arrest. And that really helps when dealing with individuals who are resisting arrest.
