Did the officer have enough proof to make an arrest?

What are you talking about? I haven't read the report but it appears that they were called out for a disturbing the peace violation, from the FB page, and when he tried to talk to the guy he ran away and assaulted the officer. I wasn't there so I don't know whether things went down that way or not but policeman generally don't act like imbeciles when they KNOW someone is directly behind them video taping everything.

My point was that if the arresting officer didn't have enough evidence to make an arrest initially, the subject simply walking away and refusing to answer anymore questions doesn't give the officer justification for the arrest. This wasn't a felony investigation..

I realize the only information we have is limited to a fb post that tells one side and a video that begins halfway into the encounter.

Police have earned their bad reputation, so I've got a real hard time assuming they do anything right. Abuse of power is just part of the daily SOP for most.
