Dry rod is just a low-power heater to maintain the inside of the safe at a constant temperature above dew-point. As long as the safe isn't exposed to large changes in temperature and you've properly oiled/cleaned the guns then there is really little to worry about.

Missing pieces. It is bolted down in the garage, too dang big to get back in the closet. Possibility of moving it upstairs, but my wife just had wooden stairs done and I would die in my sleep if I F'ed them up moving a safe. So keep the rod and maybe load up on the bags? 5-10 of them? I have 2 electrical plugs so I could get some other form of dehumidifier? I need to search the innerwebs and see whats out there. Lots of good info here, thanks for the input.
