Lets say we're talking about a 3 team league.

Why can't owners of teams A and B just cap their wages at whatever they want for their teams rather than colluding to prevent owner of team C from paying what he wants? If Team C owner's priority is winning over profits shouldn't that be his right without Team A and B forcing him into an artificial wage cap?

And all that without getting into how unfair and un-American it is for the players. They are being colluded against to prevent Team owner C to pay him his true free market value. That is pretty much the definition of anti-free market and anti-american.

The free market is the world market. No one is saying that these guys HAVE to play for the MLS, they don't and many don't.

If Team C is left unchecked, then Team B and A would be forced to spend more, or never win thus putting them out of business.

Then Team C is left to jerk off with 20 of their imaginary 3-Team League Champion trophies.

Scrap the cap, and let the clubs pay what they can afford.

A sophisticated version of financial fair play, or a weighted "salary cap." Like I said earlier, Seattle should not be held to the same standard as FC Dallas or Columbus.

The clubs are not equal.

There would need to be revenue sharing then which is even more "un-American".

I already said I thought MLS was different as there are many viable alternative leagues, unlike the situations for the NBA and NFL

How would you combat the inequality in pay? Small market teams would fold, and the league would soon follow.

Revenue sharing are both prevalent in the NBA and NFL as well.

It's not about market size, it's about having a fanbase that cares.

Portland is a small market compared to Dallas.

Semantics.

Either way, it has to be accounted for in some manner. Unless you want a top heavy league that folds in a matter of years.

I want a league that allows their clubs to reach their maximum potential while remaining financially viable. I do not care if Columbus can compete with NYRB.

Watching a stacked NYCFC dismantle the Colorado Rapids 6-0 would be more enjoyable than watching two hapless, technically deficient teams finish in a 1-1 draw.

Then you want the lesser revenue generating clubsto fold clubs followed shortly by the league.

Got it.
