This is actually the only album he's made that I don't have. No idea why.
I'd actually have to throw in Terria, as well. It has it's more droning moments, but I think it definitely fits with the prog definition.

since he is not into metal I would point him to Crack the Skye, I am a HUGE fan of every Mastodon album but Skye is not as heavy as the others.
