How I would improve college basketball

1. Lengthen the three-point shot to the NBA length. Guys are getting good enough at it to do that and they all want to play in the NBA anyways.
2. Reduce the shot clock to 32 seconds. The NBA has a 24 second clock and women have it at 30. People want to see basketball and more transition game and this will reward teams that play defense and yet not lead to lower scoring.
3. Have a designated free throw shooter on the court. When a guy gets fouled allow the offended team to choose anyone on the court to take the shots.

Are you thinking this will decrease the number of fouls? I'm ok with your first 2 suggestions, but I don't like this one.

You are going to reduce the shot clock by 3 seconds?
LOL wtf? That will change virtually nothing.
You'd have to reduce it a good bit more than that.

I'm on board for 1 and 2. 3? Not so much.
NCAA just needs an overhaul of their officiating system and rule book all together. Good crews are often stretched too thin with shitty scheduling. There's a handful of guys who consistently make shitty calls with little reprocussion. And rules changes as of late have turned officiating into something far too subjective.

Call a player control foul the way it was called 15-20 years ago. It has turned into a tactic to force a turnover. That's horrible for the game, IMO.
Player control should be when defender has established position and offensive player commits an act to gain an advantage. This should be strictly enforced.

1. Agreed
2. 28 seconds
3. No way
I'll add a couple more:
4. Move to quarters instead of halves
5. Reduce TV timeouts

I like the reduce of the shot clock. If you are up by like 5 with 3 minutes left it is pretty much game with this shot clock.
After that, I would like to say that the third one is pretty stupid for college. That is not how it works in the NBA and college has turned into a feeder program.

Make it 30 or less.

Lengthen the 3pt line to NBA and reduce the shot clock to 30 secs.

probably not a big change, but fine
no to the designated free throw shooter.
what college basketball needs to do is reduce the number of NCAA tourney bids to less than 40. The really low seeds are not winning championships and haven't done enough to deserve a shot. The regular season is hopelessly devalued at present.

I get your point, but thats one of the dumbest things ever
And the other 2 have been talked about quite a bit

Wouldn't go quite to the NBA line.

lol no
Add defensive three-seconds to prevent as much zone. Add continuation.

Did not think you could post worse than you do on the PT Board.

1. Fine with that
2. Hmm, I'd go with 30 over 32.
3. Terrible idea
