You need to realize that baseball players have the strongest union. That is why they are the highest paid pro athletes. NFL athletes have the weakest union and yet they play in the more popular sport now and get paid less than baseball players.

There is more to it than that..

Football teams have what, 60-80 guys on the roster? You have 16 games a year..

Baseball has 25.

Over 3 million fans will come to Busch Stadium this year, and 162 games are broadcasted on tv. Some teams have tv contracts in the billions.

And I wouldn't praise baseball too much, what's happening is guys are spending their 20's getting paid nothing, then they're getting these major contracts at the end of their prime.

Things are shifting a little, you're seeing teams buy out arbitration years to get a year or two into a players free agency eligibility, and the player welcomes this because they make more in the short term.

That's not an all inclusive argument, and it wasn't even well said, but the point is to keep in mind that there is a lot more to it than what you said.

Yeah I would agree that baseball players don't have it anywhere near as good as most think. If you're not Robinson Cano you're not going to ever reach your big contract year. At least they have guaranteed deals though.

53 on an active roster and 46 can dress out for a game.

As far as revenues, the NFL had about 8.5 billion in 2013 compared to 7 billion for MLB.
