It doesn't, but everything I've seen indicates that violent crime is on the decline in this country. It's never fast enough, but some people imply that it is headed in the wrong direction.

A lot of white people listen to rap as well, and what's the problem with that? Mainstream rap nowadays isn't violent like in the 90s.

Any drop in crime is attributed to mass incarceration and abortions (thanks, Freakonomics). But blacks still commit the most violent crime percentage-wise and it isn't close.
I've never been one to blame music or video games or TV, but I do think rap music is both reinforcing and symptomatic of what too many young black males value.
