I'm not black. But I'm older than 30 and raised in North Louisiana.
What advantages? Not having my ancestors enslaved is where I would start, access to better education and health care historically and better economic opportunities over time.
Have things improves in the last 30 years? Absolutely. But to draw an arbitrary line like shows you either discount history or have an agenda.

150 years ago??? It's time to find a new excuse.

Bettering your life so you don't have to rely on government provided health care and work will go a long way to improving your well being.

Maybe we should offer free educational opportunities for poor folks so they could have a way to break the cycle of poverty? Think that would work?

Damn, we already have that.

What's your solution to breaking this cycle? More excuses? More welfare traps? Or maybe if you'd read some of what has been posted, there are some real solutions out there that may work. Of course, you'll have to stop blaming someone and start looking forward.

No, we get the historical issues. We get that there's little generational wealth in black families. We get that there are still people alive who couldn't ride the white bus. But what we (many whites) don't get is why any of that justifies the violent crime, the lack of fathers, the obsession with rap and that culture. Esp since we constantly see immigrants from other poor countries who live peaceful productive lives and make sure their kids are educated.

Enslaved? As in, Africans, were turned into slaves after they got here? You're older than 30 but you believe this?
