ULL would love to do this. I don't think they have the support or resources. Lafayette is not Louisville. As long as LSU takes care of business we'll be fine.

Yeah people seem to be deliberately misunderstanding me. Short-term LSU has all the advantages. But ULL does have better programs going in some sports, like baseball and softball both being better than LSU this year head-to-head.

And keep in mind that ULL is the second largest school in Louisiana with the third largest endowment.

It would get interesting real fast if ULL were invited to join the Big 12 IMHO.

Their trying to build themselves up academically at LSU's expense is more of a concern to me than athletics. This state is too small to have two major public universities. The growth of one will come at the expense of the other.

Who gives a shite about softball. Generates no money.
This is silly.

And I'll take LSU in a 3 game series over ULL. After we fire Javi of course.

Yes. For the Big 12. If that were to happen I would suspect the Big 12 was on the verge of ceasing to exist.

I'm glad to see ULL having some nice success in athletics, but lets pump the breaks on them becoming a major athletic program. Plus, with college athletes about to get paid (and it's going to happen sooner rather that later) the divide between the major athletic programs and minor ones is going to grow even greater

Nobody on a national level gives two hoots about college baseball and softball. Both are minor sports.

So LSU should be shaking in their boots because ulala won a mid week game & now they are ready to overtake one of the nation's top programs???? Softball? Ok, they have a top 10-15 program, good for them, it's frickin softball. As far as your Nostradamus prediction about how ulala upgrading their facilities & heading to the Big 12 (yeah right), that is idiotic. They can upgrade their facilities, win lower level bowl games, & compete for Sunbelt championships till the cows come home but that won't change squat about LSU & their status in this state or the nation. These upgrades & sunbelt trophies are cute but if you haven't noticed, LSU is doing a little upgrading of it's own & is still considered a national powerhouse competing in the toughest division & conference in the nation. Ulala is experiencing some success, & good for their student athletes but it wasn't long ago that another state school, Tulane, thought they were on the heels of big brother with an undefeated season in football, wins against LSU in baseball, & trips to Omaha. Look at them now, same place as ulala, in LSU's rear view mirror.
These smaller schools have their ups & downs & have some special moments but don't come in here acting like adding some seats to Cajun field(which will probably be empty considering they couldn't sell out their capacity before) & a good year in baseball, a few weeks into the season, is reason for LSU to even remotely concern themselves with ulala. Let them enjoy their success but don't come here looking for a "pissing contest".

In your fiction story this a.m. - you failed to mention how usl is cleaning our plow in recruiting - don't u think that is WWE type info for the conjoins? Pretty soon I guess your football coach would become the 6th highest paid coach in Louisiana - behind several of our "private" type high school corches.

This is so short-sighted it isn't even funny.

Are you really extrapolating ULL's success in one game against LSU this season as a sign that their entire baseball program is better than LSU's? Really?

LSU is one of only a handful of profitable baseball programs in the country. ULL can only dream of having that. Beating LSU head to head in a mid-week game is nice and all, but let's hold off on the over-the-top kudos until they actually win something and demonstrate higher quality over time.
