so let me get this blue beetle vs jean gray debate straight: we're supposed to use the non-sucky version of the beetle against the less powerful jean gray and then assume that she won't risk killing her opponent?

Yeah. We are using the Blue Beetle that has only existed for 8.75% of the entire history of the Blue Beetle and no one has heard of, but we can't use the Jean Gray everyone has heard of and knows is an integral part of the character...
