But he can't, he's a matchup center like Aaron Gray was. Ryan Schwan summed it up pretty good in the game recap.

quote:

Ajinca is still strictly situational. Against mobile shooting centers, he’s a major liability. Against behemoth centers whose games keep them near the rim, he can be extremely effective. Tonight, he had a nice game against Jordan – just like he had ones against Howard, Hibbert, and Marc Gasol. His 14 points and 11 boards were almost as impactful as Morrow’s 27.

Maybe so, and I'm certainly not advocating starting minutes. We need help at the position. I just think that help isn't Steimsma and it isn't coming from Withey anytime soon.

Exactly why Ajinca should stay on the team. The plan next year should be to start AD at the 5. If we are going against a banger a la - Hibbert, Howard, Jordan - then we should start Ajinca at the 5 and move AD to the 4.

Problem solved. Monty you can let me know when you want me to come be an assistant coach any time now.

Maybe he doesn't do this every night, but the kinds of guys he has big games against are some of the bigger-name centers in the league.

How often do you hear someone say "He's only good when he plays against Dwight Howard and Marc Gasol" about a center?
