I bet that guy took the rest of the day off

His boss probably bitched him out for slacking for that 2:30.

I don't want to sound like a badass here but I would have just worked my way down like he did until I got to the ground. After 2 drops you're probably close enough that a fall might not even break something.

I like the guy in the background saying "Keep going!"

Probably could have. With the issues they were having in getting the ladder close enough and with the frame collapsing, he might have almost been better off going down that way.

Looks like he kind of had an awkward landing on his right knee on that drop. Wonder if he's hurt.

I wish we could hear what the fireman on the ladder was yelling. I bet there were a few f-bombs laced in his instructions to the ladder truck driver who was pulling his dick while this shite was going down.

Question about the fire...

What would it be like if he or anyone was in that room right in the middle of it when it's at it's worst? Yeah yeah I realize it's "hot." I mean, how long do you feel it for? And what actually kills you? Isn't it impossible to breathe? Do you freak out too much to even know what's going on? Thinking about this scares me.

fire burns because it's consuming the oxygen in the air. you'd die from not being able to breathe or from inhaling so much smoke

Unless you are a cripple of some sort, you'd die from suffocation long before burning.

Luckily it wasn't me in that situation. My video would be on liveleak and I'd be shitting my pants as the fire consumed me. Props to this guy for the jump and to HPD for the good ladder work.

Holy frick. I had chills watching that. Glad the guy made it, he bought himself time by jumping down. Risky move but he had no choice.

I think he was yelling at the firefighter climbing up the ladder behind him to go back down. Aerial ladders have around a 500lb weight capacity when fully extended like that. If the other firefighter had continued up to assist it would have put them over limit and possibly caused the ladder to fail. Might explain why there was a delay in getting the ladder in the correct place. That's an extremely stressful situation and both the operator and firefighter need to be commended for that.
