Just a reminder to the OT to look at your transaction history carefully on your debit / credit cards.

Just noticed that a certain new location of a mexican food franchise in mid city nola screwed with the tip amount on my check. Wasnt a huge difference, but it certainly adds up for whoever is stealing. Im sure I'm not the only one they scammed. They probably count on most people not noticing the diference.

If you can prove this, they can get a felony for that. It's credit card fraud and the $$ amount doesn't matter.

Happened to a Domino's Driver about a year ago in Gonzales. I can't find it but it certainly happened. I'll look some more.

Our pizza place made a point to warn the drivers of this kind of shite.
It can be frustrating to get stiffed and tempting to add a tip when a customer doesn't keep their copy... But that's a big time crime that lots of stoner idiot waiters/drivers don't realize.

eta: found it. he only got forgery but we were warned about wire fraud and such on CCs.

Just an FYI a lot of places go ahead and take out 15% with certain restaurant transactions. If you leave a cash tip or leave no tip (you monster of a person) it will put it back in soon after it posts.

ETA: I had a buddy of mine raise holy hell at a restaurant only to find out this was a common practice.

Once ordered a $30 meal at a certain Gonzales restraunt with a $10 tip. The waiter didn't even bother to use the same color pen when he added the extra "1" in front.

I learned my lesson on this after I got $10 added after leaving a cash tip. I always check after a few days.

BWW added a $20 tip one time.
I called the bank and they gave me a credit and I went to BWW to speak to the manager about it. He appoligzed and gave me $20 in gift certificates for it.

Good stuff. I'm scared to death of this happening and it's pretty irrational. I keep all of my receipts and reconcile in a spreadsheet to the penny.

I always keep receipts and balance my account, so I would notice.

Just curious, but when you have to sign, and there's a place for a tip, do you always fill it in? I normally leave a cash tip, and I just leave it blank. I've been thinking of it as kind of an experiment.

If you never tip, it makes it a lot easier to spot any fraud.

Had a local Japanese restaurant/waitress do this to me after I scribbled out the initial tip due to shitty service. Went out of business shortly after, so I never did follow it up.
