An usher at the Mavs game and I got in a 10 minute discussion on how many points Dr. J could have scored with modern travelling rules. We decided on somewhere between 30 and 35 PPG. We're only half kidding (or at least I was), but the rule on travelling has been extremely liberalized, allowing guys to do things with the ball now that were literally impossible in the old NBA. Not because players are better now, but because a lot of moves today would have been illegal.
