[quote] 2008, the number of welfare recipients in Louisiana was 19,845.

I thought 3,500 seemed laughably low.

Instead trying to waste your time bashing poor people you would brush up on your math.

Even though it was a FOX News article it says around 3500 Households. You do understand Households?

According to the state TANF(welfare) is for families of at least 3 who earn under $30,000 annually. They are only elgible for 5 years during their ENTIRE LIFETIME.

At least 3 in the household & I don't know what the average size household on TANF is . 4 ? 5?

So if you add up your every person in every household(some drop off by quarters & are added on) for a certain year I am certain TANF pays out to somewhere around 15000-20000 people per year(although some not the entire year).

The confusion is because people like you in your haste to villainous the poor don't read the numbers you throw out.

This isn't bashing the poor it's calling out people who intentionally abuse the system and steal from hard working tax payers. I have no problem with people based on their income. I have a problem when people leach off of others when they are capable of finding a damn job.

Stop thinking with your bleeding heart and use your brain.

I was going by what you said. What you said was:

quote:

An entire 3500 households who receive welfare in Louisiana (according to the article) at $192 per month.
You said 3,500 households receive welfare in Louisiana. Because of how you worded it, I was under the impression you were talking about welfare as a whole and not a very specific program.

But the overall point is still the same. $3 billion is being spent on welfare in Louisiana. Fraud and waste should be cut wherever applicable.
