I guess it depends where in Ak you're looking to ship.
Company insures the entire state, so wherever you would have someone living.
Do you have any recommendations for shipping items from here to AK, besides UPS and FedEX?
Thanks for the stores. We are really just looking for places that sell the stuff. Figuring it will be far more cost effective from even buying wholesale and shipping

Probably would. Cost of shipping to S.E. is ungodly. I'd definitely use AIH, they have locations in Juneau, Anchorage, Fairbanks and on the Kenai. Both Fred Meyer and Walmart also do bush orders.
In S.E., if it's not in Juneau, you'll it has to go by barge or small plane.
Alaska Air Cargo is less expensive than Fed Ex or UPS for 2-3 day shipping. Not sure if Alaska Airlines does business where you are though.

This is something that I'm going to be looking into as well. I've been told by folks that they use a "shipping company" to get goods from Washington to Seattle. For instance, it's cheaper to buy a set of living room furniture in Washington and have it shipped from Bellingham to Anchorage than it is to pay retail in Anchorage. These type of "shipping companies" are who the movers (like Atlas and United) hire to transport items from the lower 48 to Alaska. Again, these are all things I'm "told", but haven't verified it myself. It may be next week before I can get you some info, but like I said, I'm headed up there on Monday and can ask around.
Sears also has a location in Anchorage. I'm not sure if they do bush orders though.
