A wide receiver that actually separates and scares defense? I would love it. Don't see it happening with so little cap room though.

yea I don't get some people's thoughts on here.

Who gives a shite if he's arrogant?

Can he catch passes and out run virtually every NFL DB? Yes.

Want.

no.

1. he costs too much
2. every season he holds out for a new contract
3. bad attitude
4. going to cost us a 2nd/3rd which I can get a rookie receiver on a rookie contract.

^^^ that and Brees makes receivers. an elite QB can make anyone good. if there is anything everyone should agree on its that sentence.

the following should send fruit baskets to Brees:
Bushrod (to chi)
Nicks (to tb)
Strief (back to saints)
De La Puenta (to happen soon)
Colston (back to saints)
Jimmy (back to saints)
Meachem (to sandy)
Lance (to saints now pitt)
...this list could go on even with other ELITE QBs (not matt ryan, joe flacco, and other espn "elite")

Brady Rodgers Brees Peyton... end of story

So why didn't Brees make the receivers this year look good?

2013 =

#2 passing team
1 receiver over 1,200 yards
2 receivers over 900 yards
4 receivers over 600 yards (1 of which is a RB in sproles)
2 RBs with 500 yards receiving
Meachem with 324 receiving yards, that 324 more than he would have anywhere else

Jimmy 16 TDs
Colston & stills with 5
10 different players caught a TD

The only teams you'll find similar OR greater numbers: Denver, ...that's it. Ya you'll find a duo of receivers in Chicago with 1,000+ yards and you may find a team with someone 10+ TDs. But what's the difference between #2 passing offense and #1? Playing the raiders twice? Hahaha Desean Jackson isn't the difference in being "better" offensively. It would be wild to see him on our offense, but not for that price.

These "Should we?" threads are a little goofy. Here's a guy, Jackson, who makes over $10M a year and constantly wants more and we are strapped for cap space. What's the point?

I would love to have him, he's exactly the type of player that I suspect the Saints are hoping to draft.

That being said, we don't have the cap space to afford his contract.

Popular belief has us taking a WR within the first 3 rounds. Maurice thinks it will happen in the 2nd or 3rd round. Loomis & Payton will be playing Flappy Bird in the war room and see a WR drop our pick in the 2nd or 3rd that they had higher grades on and sprint to the podium Markell Gregoire style

Now that they are saying they will cut him we might be able to do a back loaded contract, which i would be down for.

He would give colston and graham more room to operate. He'd probably be the most dangerous receiver in the league with brees. His contract sucks, but this would make the saints the top offense in the league next year.

That some funny shite right there. Would make a great sig quote for the ST.

Anyway back on topic, if the iggles were to cut him and we could sign him to a team friendly deal, then I would be all for it. Hell I bet he would do a one year deal for a chance at a ring.
