Because its a free education and I could take as much time as I want to. I would only take 1-2 classes per semester

But part of me is on the same page as you. Since I've been out for so long, what would be an easy degree?

I see the appeal of an "easy" degree, but if you're only able to take a couple of classes each semester, I'd really give some serious thought to working toward an undergrad that would open up your ability to be employable.

Engineering, accounting, nursing, et. al.

If you took two classes per semester (fall, spring, summer), that would take you seven freaking years to graduate. I'm assuming you have no college credits.

Sounds like a business degree concentrating in the needs of your employer, accounting, marketing, management, etc.

Good luck, go for it son. Wish I would have done so.

What is the obsession over engineering?

I went back to college in my late twenties and chose nursing. Currently working in the perioperative arena and DAMN trying to figure out what ten people want and one patient needs all at the same time can get confusing!
