Ukraine is not a treaty ally, so your premise is flawed.

Ukraine is not Poland circa 1938, where an invasion triggers war.

It's closer to Czechoslovakia 1936, where stopping Putin would probably prevent a larger war down the road but no other power really wants to get involved and just wishes the whole matter would go away.

I see things getting much worse from here if Putin isn't stopped. It may not directly screw the US, but I see Europe as being completely fricked because the eastern countries don't have the firepower to hold them off despite the will to do so while the western ones depend on us for their defense and will roll over like the French during the WWII Blitzkrieg if the Red Army starts rolling.

Wash and repeat... WWI, WWII, to present. Turn a blind eye, and ignore it and it doesn't go away until it ends up being our business and a bloody one at that. Same talk, same result.

Nothing wrong with seeking peaceful resolutions, and well we should at this point, but from a point of strength and ultimatums that absolutely NO invasion of the Ukraine or elsewhere will be tolerated or considered an act of aggression on all of Europe and thus an act of war. That's the ONLY thing those Russian fricks really comprehend and respect, peace from a point of strength. Reagan saw that, and operated in such a manner. He didn't cower down, but stood his ground and let them know how the cow chews the cabbage, but with a friendly smile and out reached hand as well.

The trouble is, if I were Putin and looked over at America right now, I'd be encouraged at what I saw in America and the leadership so called in America. And don't think for a second he doesn't look over here and laugh, because he does. That's the scary part, and which if anything will give him motivation to move forward into the Ukraine itself, which they already have.
