I think the confusion is that SOMETIMES a snake's first bite at something is more of a warning, a 'dry bite.' If whatever is fricking with it doesn't quit, the second one is for real. I seent it on those animal planet shows were people who think its fun to keep really dangerous snakes. They'll get nicked every once in awhile cleaning a cage and think they're becoming immune over time, then a really pissed off snake proves them wrong.
