Don't know a whole lot about it other than it's high prevalence and use by professional athletes. I wouldn't use it as a preventative to surgery though unless you're in season as an athlete or about to begin one.

Consult with an ortho who does it for his/her two cents !

I plan to. Like I said, I haven't had time to do any reasearch yet. I was just out for dinner last night and someone asked me what happened and started talking about it. It's not an alternative if the ligaments are torn according to him, and mine aren't. Just curious if anyone here has done it. This guy seemed to swear by it.
