The most interesting story I personally know of was that of a good friend of my brother-in-law's, whom I also was acquainted with. The guy's grandfather actually fought in the Civil War.
His grandfather the Civil War veteran had married and fathered children late in life and his own father was older as well.
The grandson told me that when he was young, he had told the story in elementary school and got called out in front of the class by the teacher for being a liar. His dad was pissed when he found out what happened and went to school with him to set the matter straight.
The grandson is now probably in his 50's.
