Carmelo wouldn't come here meaning Kevin Love is likely the next opportunity. If he works it out with Minnesota or the TWolves decide to rebuild rather than reload with a Ryno package, I'm not sure where or when the next opportunity will come.
This is the dream right there. To pick up Love and put him next to Davis. Say after the draft we offered Anderson, Gordon, Jackson and two 1st round conditional picks (2015 unprotected and the next conditional on Love signing an extension) for Love, Martin and Luc. Would the Wolves go for that? That'd be better than anything the Lakers would offer them.
We would only get a one year rental for Love. We'd have to hope we would make a big run in the playoffs and hope he would pick up his option. One of his best friends in the league is Holiday, so we'd have that going for us. Plus playing next to Davis would be a lot of fun for him. It would be a huge splash. A great line-up..
Holiday/Roberts
Martin/Rivers
Evans/Luc
Love/Withey
Davis/Ajinca
That's a 5-6 seed team right there..

With Rubio and Pekovic it seems like they'd rather reload than reset. Now if say the Lakers get a top 3 pick and offer Wiggins or another potential star for Love, they'll have to think about it, otherwise you have to reload, especially if you want Adelman to come back.
