I hope he is right. Selling across state lines will reduce the number of insurance companies to 3, same as in most industries.
But I don't think the Republicans will allow carriers to cross state lines.

Hopefully insurance companies see the writing on the wall. That is, take advantage of the potential political environment now (or near future) that will allow for purchasing insurance across state lines or block that proposal and risk ceasing to exist while single payer gets implemented in 5-10 years.
A good competitive insurance environment would be very good for consumers. Hopefully our politicians can tell insurance lobbyist who want to continue the government/insurance crony relationship to f' off.
I'm not holding out much hope. History tells me that insurance company greed will lead to their demise and the statist will win with the elimination of the insurance companies and the implementation of single payer. Then the consumer is again f'd with another middle man, the federal government.
