Yeah definitely look around. If you just want a deposit/checking relationship that can be had at nearly every bank, and smaller banks just do a better job at customer service.

Capital One 360 is actually 100% online and is separate from brick-and-mortar Capital One...I actually can't do anything in a branch. But if you can do without branches it is fantastic and the customer service is excellent. No fees, not even for overdrafts.

I'm expecting some fees these days with all banks....and if not now, in the fairly near future.

I took your advice (which was similar to what a family member suggested) and found a smaller bank that we like. They have a good fee schedule and seem to be growing pretty quickly in the area. They have a couple of branches near us that are convenient.
