The drive from Tampa to St. Pete is a long one especially when you factor in traffic after a long day at work. We get killed attendance wise M-F. Saturday and Sunday are great attendance wise. We can get 30,000 fans in the Trop for a weekend game...or any Red Sox, Yankees game. I'm not saying we are but you might see a nice chunk of real estate bought up in downtown Tampa by the Forum within the next 5-7 years. As for Miami, that has been a cluster frick for a long time now. I personally think Miami does not deserve any professional sports franchise because of the fair weather fans and lack of support from the city. There is no doubt in my mind that a team could do well in Orlando. Location would be the key though because Orlando is so spread out and I4 which runs straight through the city is a nightmare. I've lived in Orlando and worked for Disney too.

Memphis would be better for an MLB team over Austin IMO. Nashville maybe?

5-7 years just to buy the land for a new stadium? Plus however long it takes to get funding passed and construction time, it could be 10 years before Tampa builds a new stadium.

The Trop is a dump NOW. If the city of Tampa and the owners don't have plans in the works already, I wouldn't expect the Rays to be around for another 10 years.
