Another Post to Cut the Cord (TV/Internet)

I remember seeing a post about “cutting the cord” a few days ago.
-What Internet provider do you use? Mbps? And Cost per month?
Here's my idea, let me know if there are better options.
Current situation:
-Cox Advanced TV ($64)
-Showtime Package ($16)
-DVR ($12)
-Cox Preferred Internet ($56)
-Modem Rental ($7)
Bundle Price: $132 after taxes. I believe my price will change come this May though.
My Idea:
-Purchase New Modem so I don't rent Cox's POS
-Drop Cable but keep Cox Internet at $60 (Wish Verizon or Google Fiber where in BR!)
-Apple TV
-Hulu Plus
-Use Family Netflix Account
-Purchase an antenna from RadioShack
The only thing I'll miss is Showtime. Any thoughts?

Get two cans and tie a string between them.

Just a FYI, if you get cable internet, then basic cable will still work. Won't be HD, but still.

that is all you need. you can mirror your laptop with apple tv so you can stream any show you want from certain websites. showtime shows included

For espn and nfl use someone else cable account that has these. Both have windows apps that you can use

There's your answer. You are settling for less while wishing for more. My wife and I have discussed this many times. It's a cost/benefit analysis. Bottom line: We like cable TV and we keep our old AT&T phone line for emergencies. We are total electric and if the power goes out we still have an old phone that will work when nothing else will. So yes, we could save about 100 bucks a month by dropping Cox cable and and our land line but it's not worth it at least from our perspective to do so.
My perspective as an IT professional: As people continue to drop cable TV and these streaming options become increasingly popular, bandwidth is going to be clogged and performance is going to suffer while internet service prices increase as service providers have to spend more to increase bandwidth. Yes, fiber will create a new threshold of performance but it's going to take many years for a nationwide fiber network to be installed.
