yes, they are making some progress. I go back to my early early prediction that this was pilot suicide for Alla.

Imo it is amazing luck that they picked up these pings. I mean the location and timing and depth. For them to drag the detector over the right spot at the right time is pretty incredible.
Assuming this is the pings they are looking for of course. But they seem confident it can't really be anything else but.
