OK, at the very last minute I am throwing caution to the wind and going offshore with two of my sons tomorrow. One is 22 and the other is 14.

I have never been offshore and know the party boat probably is not the way to go. That said it is what it is. Besides "hire a private guide" what advice do you have? The guide is supplying everything but the license and we are heading out of Galveston at 8:30 am tomorrow.

Thanks

What type of party boat?
How far offshore?

Looks like conditions will be decent tomorrow.

Fish from the stern. Fewer lines/tangles in my experience. I caught a 63lb cobia/ling/lemonfish on the Florida Girl when I was a young teenager. It can be hectic if crowded, but will be as much fun as you make it. If you and your sons like it, consider ponying up for a charter next time. Also, if the TX boats still use electric reels only, be careful or they will shock the shite out of you.
