The United States of America was not sucker punched by Korea and Koreans were treated worse than Americans by Japan and still are. My father was shot several times and was sitting on a troop transport to be on the first wave of the invasion of Japan which would have been certain death until they dropped Fat Man and Little Boy. He was no lover of Japan for many years as I was growing up but times change and so did he. He never wholesale equated Asian people as Japs. He was careful because he was educated and knew the difference. He died last year with a great granddaughter who is half Japanese and half American and living in Tokyo. And he loved her as much as anyone in his family.

That man had every place to make that statement.
