I take my 3 year old and 4 month old to movies all the time. I have no issues.
I get there early so I'm the first in the theatre. I choose seats on the aisle so that I can quickly exit if needed, or seats on the aisle on the very back row if at a non-stadium seating theatre. Works perfectly.
