There are a lot of variables here and no one really knows.

Putin may have seen Romney as a stronger president and not invaded in the first place, or Putin may have used Ukraine as a test case for Romney.

There is a bigger picture here than just the Ukraine, and it involves five years of perceived weakness By Obama and a weakened George Bush in his last two years in office.

Bush was seen as one of the strongest presidents from a commander in chief perspective, and that didnt stop Putin from invading Georgia.

its on his doorstep. There isnt anything we can or could have done militarily.

Economic and diplomatic isolation are the only weapons here, unless somehoe Ukraine manages to solicit NATO assistance.

and from the look of things, Putin will get Crimea. Russia marched in, and are basically allowing Crimea to seceed Ukraine without a civil war.
