If we are talking chess then maybe Putin has overplayed his hand. These military moves only incite more resistance to Russia. There is a long game to be played and Russia will find economic consequences down the road for this move.

The Ukraine will eventually become part of the EU and the compromise is no military buildup by the west or Russia inside Ukraine. We already have a treaty in place for this when nuclear weapons were removed back in the 90's.

There is more division in Russia over Putin's interference than many realize. "Game, Set, Match" hardly...
