I am preparing to be underwhelmed by this weeks episode. I am thinking Errol is the YK and everyone else is dead which doesn't seem that interesting IMO.

Errol seems like he is borderline retarded, not sure how he is some serial killer mastermind

Marty's kids, ex-wife, and ex-FIL are not involved.

Lawnmower man is obviously part of the cult, but he isn't the ring leader.

Rust will get strung up and murdered by the cult in episode 8. Note the line in the first episode about how he keeps a crucifix because he meditates on the idea of what it takes to sacrifice yourself for a cause, not because he is a Christian. Note how the bodies have been found in the last few years. It's been heading this way ever since the very beginning.

Ok so the Audrey thing is the only thing I am questioning. When Marty gets them for dinner (ep. 2 doll scene). Audrey is telling her sister that "she doesn't have a mommy or daddy. They were in an accident. A car accident."

Marty then enters the room and sees the dolls. WTF was she talking about?

Re-watching episode 1...what's the significance of the white haired state cop? Dude goes right in Marty after the 1st talk of the murder with the Captain. Then he's there beside the captain for the presser and again when they suspend Rust in 2002.

If this magnificent show finishes strongly, it's gonna jump Breaking Bad and become my 2nd favorite TV show ever behind The Wire.

Anyone else feel that way?

So true detective ends as a buddy cop movie with a bunch of cliches? Too good through 7 hrs not to disappoint in the finale.

I thought the ending was great. It was necessary to end it the way they did because of the central narrative of the show and the relationship between Marty and Rust.

I feel like the dialogue when MM reflects on his OOB experience during his unconsciousness and how he felt warmth and love was very important. The entire season we only know, what boils down to, a cynical, pessimistic Cohle and in the final scene of the season he actually shows hope and optimism, especially with his atatement that "in the beginning there was only darkness, so light is winning."

The very ending like the last 10 minutes or so left me kinda hanging for a bit cause idk maybe I just expected more. After thinking through all the details I absolutely loved it and not sure this show can be topped for awhile

Probably the most boring finale to a show I've ever seen. Can't believe that's the end of the story.

Very disappointed
