Naturally, one would think so, and I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you yet. However, fighting for a region that supports your opponent may only give Putin a justification for making it a wider conflict.

You need go back and read some history books and quit getting your history lessons from talk radio, because France did fight in WWII. They might have gotten their asses kicked and had over 100,000 troops killed in just six weeks, but that has nothing to do with a will to fight. However, Denmark is a different story, because they surrendered without firing a shot. Perhaps you're confusing the two countries.
