Dude you're being obtuse.

When people use the phrase "throw money at" something, it's not like they literally mean just blindly handing over more cash.

They're talking about the mindset that says "our kids are failing in school because they don't have iPads and smart boards!" Instead of addressing root issues.

except the mantra is being used to DE-fund public schools, and the mantra is used to support the position that our schools are failing and we need to get rid of them altogether.

When you start with, "Throwing money at the problem doesn't work" and end with, "We need to scrap the entire public school system" I don't think I'm being obtuse. The mantra is used to justify throwing the baby out with the bathwater - it is NOT used to promote discussion addressing the root issues.

Our public education system in Louisiana is woefully underfunded, AND what little funds they have are squandered. No, "throwing money at the problem" WON'T fix it, but no one is saying it will. It is a classic straw man.
