Dialog was the problem not the acting. The writing was god awful for Anakin.

And the directing, if possible was worse. The entire series of films, while tecnically dazzling, was a disaster at the critical levels of acting, writing and direction.
In the kid's defense, nobody was very good - and I mean nobody - except, perhaps McGregor and Palpatine. Neeson was terrible, Portman was terrible - and we know these folks can act - we've seen them do it.
When you have something this poorly executed, yet this well funded, the fingers all point at one George Walton Lucas.
