I searched the "hitting problem" thread and didn't see anyone mention that CPM said we need to hit the ball on the ground and not in the air.

Bregman batted in the bottom of the 5th with 2 men on. He took your advice and look where that got us.

I dont understand why "hit the ball on the ground" is sound advice. I know you have a much better probability of finding a hole and getting on base which is the true factor in run scoring, but the advice should be "stop swinging for the fences and drive the ball middle-away". "Hit the ball on the ground" comes off as not being aggressive.

And while we're at it also hit the ball where fielders aren't

I hate many of our "knowledgeable" fans

In the normal world of baseball pitchers are taught to pitch to contact and get ground balls to limit pitch count etc. With the state of the bats, balls etc. We need to teach hitting grounds balls so that hopefully some can get through or put pressure on the defense to make mistakes. I can understand this if you are utilizing the hit and run or run and hit or bunting etc. but this is really out of whack. I also realize that when hitters get skewed toward either in the air or beating the ball in the ground you try to move them back toward the best option of line drives by asking them to do the opposite. Hopefully the new balls will make a difference??? Does anyone know if high schools are going to the lower seam ball?
