West Marine sells a product that suppose to work repairing a rotting transom by drilling in holes to the top and mixing the product and pour in. To me, that is just putting a band aide on a problem. The real way is the grind out the inside of the transom, remove all wood

If you're talking about penetrating epoxy, that shite's legit. I've used it on my sailboats rudder and it's better than new. If you know anything about sailboats you know how much pressure is on that rudder and it stayed submerged for three years without leaking a drop after I did it. Solid as a rock. Just make sure you drill enough holes. It will heat up and expand itself into the rot under pressure then squirt out the holes. Let it do that, cool, harden, do it again.

As for bolts and screws, nothing, and I mean NOTHING works better than butyl tape to end water encroachment and it's the easiest shite in the world to work with.
Check this out for how to do it. LINK

Just refill the holes with West System then drill it out fresh. Do what it says in that post, never deal with that shite again.

This. It's hardly a "band aid"...more like a bionic transom once you're done.
