Pretty simple, raise course fees. If still unsuccessful next year start closing and selling property.

They have lost money for years .. Same with the TPC course that the state owns. I'm not positive that governments owning courses is a good thing. I'm also not positive that they should be shut down.

The majority of the golf courses in Louisiana don't make money. No matter if it's government owned or privately owned.

Black Bear, a state golf course up here, loses 1.2 million on average every year. It's just one course. Nice arse track though.

If they would hire a competent director, be honest about certain parks viability regardless of location and spend the money on the money maker, they could be out of this hole.. They should of have turned city park into a par 3 with lights, while using the rest as a multifunctional park..

they arent trying to make a dime on golf.....but they would certainly like to get back closer to even

they could raise the fee a few bucks on santa maria to help curtail some of the overall loss and they would still have plenty of play there

eta: all of their courses do a very poor job of food and beverage too.....snack places, if they exist, rarely seem to be open

Get rid of Dumas and Howell.

Do not touch Webb, Beaver, and Santa Maria.

They are already cutting corners at Santa Maria.

The govt isn't in the business of making a profit. It is in the business of providing services. Do you think any of the BREC parks make money? Making money is not what it is there for.

I think there are too many golf courses in Baton Rouge as it is with the majority of them being lower quality courses. Cut a couple courses, upgrade a few of the ones you still have in operation. Leaves us with some lower quality/lower fee courses, some mid quality/mid fee courses and some nicer quality/higher fee courses. When I say nicer, I don't mean anything crazy fancy, just a course with smooth greens, tight fairway and rough that is kept up with. Gives everyone with every income level a course they can play at.

St. George says they would close them automatically regardless.
