Wasn't there something to look for as far as a hole versus a notch when looking for one of these?

Only the very early ones had the frame problem

Yes. If you're interested in an old production model(1989 or earlier I believe) there are a few that are still floating around. If you're interested in a new production model (which I own) the issue has been corrected. I believe it had to do with a recoil-related issue on the frame. Let me see if I can find a pic.
