The missing TE has been a direct relation to QB play. Neither JL or JJ could progress through routes well enough to get to the TE. ZM had a lot of issues his first year, plus we didn't really have a decent pass catching TE. This past year, like others said, progression went OBJ-JL or vice versa and one of those was usually open. I think this year with the unproven guys out there, you start to see a lot of TE's splitting out to create some mismatches, plus open up some lanes for Jennings to escape.

And a sophmore who has barely played, (JennJesuSwag) a RS freshman who hasn't played (Rettig) or a true freshman (HarriSwag) are supposed to be proficient in going through their progressions? Not happening.

TE is usually a QBs safest option. We haven't had a relevant tight end option since the Flynn era.
