I would suggest Bogue Chitto state park in LA it is between Folsom and Franklinton. 1600 acre park with many trails, ponds to fish in and about 1-1/2 miles of the bogue chitto river pass through the park. In summer you can tube the river and there is a splash pad with slide for the kids. Also have a beach area.

I'm a fan of Clear Springs in Meadville, MS. Nice lake, great trails with lots of elevation changes.
