Could a track be placed in the dome? I'd think the dome would be one of the best olympic venues.

Doubt the Superdome can fit an Olympic-sized track though it could probably host the basketball and gymnastics events like the Georgia Dome did in '96. If NOLA hosted the Games in 2028, they could build the Olympic Stadium and then use it as the Superdome's replacement with minor renovations.

build up Tad Gormley Stadium... remember... a US T&F Olympic Trials has been held there before (yes I know it now has artificial turf in there... I'm sure they could put down natural grass if needed)

Tad could also be a soccer stadium host (though not a real good viable option as is)... and as I 1st realized in the London games... not everything needs to be in the host city... so Tiger Stadium and other major college facilities could be used

the Dome would probably do all the gymnastics stuff

Smoothie King Ctr for basketball (obviously)

Morial Ctr for fencing/wrestling

Pontchartrain Ctr & Alario Ctr could be utilized in some way (weightlifting)

also... if we were to get an Olympiad... that would be the perfect chance to build up the old Jazzland/Six Flags NOLA area into a gigantic sports complex

I don't see the Olympics ever going somewhere without new venues, certainly not one that is what, 40+ years old?

The dome might be able to be used for minor events, but they'd have to build more flashy venues.

I think it would be awesome though. The humidity would absolutely make a difference and would create some really interesting dynamics.
