I had a similar problem with a dog we brought home from the shelter. My neighbor watched her go over our 6' vinyl fence and bust her arse in his hedges. The best solution for us was a wireless fence system made by Petsafe and purchased at Petsmart. The collar is rechargeable and holds a charge for about 2-3 weeks (there is a cheaper version that requires batteries). The main unit can be placed inside of the house and it sets a wireless perimeter around your house (up to 300' I believe) that you adjust to your own preference. It also allows an additional collar on the same system which works great for our small dog that can jump the fence but loved to try to dart out the front door when company arrived. A second collar is a separate purchase. LINK

a friends lab does this when you throw her dummy over the fence. Its pretty cool considering my fat arse dog struggles to hop on the couch.
