Hubs plants them in raised beds. Red Lasoda and Yukon Gold. He has his drying at the moment to plant saturday, so not too late. The first year he did it, did not work out so well. Apparently to get good yield it is really important to pile dirt around the base of the plant as it grows. When a 4-6 inch sprout grows out, cover it and hill up the soil around it. Bear in mind that the potatoes will not be any further down than the original seed potato. So you need the tubers to come out from the new sprouting. When it flowers or becomes just too spindly and viney to cover, stop doing the hilling up of dirt. Then wait for the vines to die. The second year we got about 30 pounds of potatoes. They were great. Hoping for more yield this year.
