17.5 million a year for a pitcher like Bailey is pretty much the going rate these days.

He's improved every year hes been in the league, and he hasnt missed a start since 2011. I'm fine with the signing. Probably means they lose Latos when he is eligible for free agency though.

Front office feels the team can afford it due to the new tv contract that is apparently in the works.

Not a bad deal. Cueto & Latos have had health issues while Bailey rarely misses a start.

I hope the sign Latos & Leake and let Cueto walk. They have several stud young pitchers tha are less than 2 years away.

Man, I don't know. He pitched way above his ability last year IMO. He's a 4.25-4.50 ERA guy and his peripherals really don't say he's better than that. But, then again maybe he figured it out.

I'm not saying it's a terrible deal. It really isn't bad enough or good enough to get excited either way.
