aren't there punches in this stupid sport? I'm thinking if the dude went in throwing punches and kicks, she'd have folded.

Anytime I've ever even jokingly fought with a girl, it's just counter intuitive to attack them, let alone be physically violent.
You could tell by the way he let up when she jumped on him. I promise you if they fought a 2nd time, that dude would have overcome that "counter intuitive" feeling and beat her arse.
Not to mention, she looked like she was experienced in some sort of martial arts...he on the other hand was not.
